I'm Melanie Hope, a mama of two, writer, lifelong learner, and the heart behind Dark Sky Flutterby, living on a peaceful little piece of heaven in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains.

My journey to this place has been anything but straight. Like so many women who experienced childhood trauma, I spent years carrying wounds I didn't fully understand, unaware of just how deeply they had shaped the way I saw myself, experienced relationships, and navigated the world around me.

As life unfolded, new wounds were added to old ones. Childhood sexual abuse, betrayal trauma, unhealthy relationships, anxiety, depression, and the physical effects of chronic stress became part of a story I never would have chosen for myself. But God wasn't finished with my story.

Over the past twelve years, my healing has unfolded in layers, much like the trauma itself. Some layers brought understanding and awareness. Others required confronting painful truths, grieving what had been lost, releasing what I'd carried, and learning to see myself through God's eyes rather than the lens of my wounds.

Along the way, I discovered how deeply trauma can affect the whole person—body, soul, and spirit. Understanding the nervous system's role in trauma, exploring somatic healing, and learning to embody the truth of God's Word helped connect pieces of my healing journey that had previously felt disconnected.

But perhaps the most profound transformation wasn't simply finding relief from the symptoms I'd lived with for so long. It was beginning to recognize the difference between who God created me to be and who I'd learned to become in order to survive. That revelation changed everything.

What began as a personal journey toward healing gradually became a passion for helping other women understand their own experiences, uncover the truth of their God-given identity, and discover the healing, wholeness, and freedom available through Jesus. And from that passion, Dark Sky Flutterby was born.

I'm still learning, growing, and walking out my own transformation. I don't have everything figured out yet, but after years of walking through darkness and experiencing God's grace, love, and healing, I know that our past doesn't have to determine our future.

My heart is to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and valued, a place where you can begin understanding what's happened to you without allowing it to define who you are or who God created you to be.

I'm so glad our paths have crossed, and I hope that something you discover here encourages you to believe there's so much more to your story than what you've survived.
